Canvas is an online learning management system for teachers to create and present online learning materials and assess student learning. Attend this hands-on workshop to build a module in Canvas. Bring your own laptop and use the Canvas account provided by your school or sign up for a free Canvas teacher’s account before you come.

Melinda Holt

Melinda has over 35+ years of experience in adult education and is currently a Technology Integration specialist for the Outreach and Technical Assistance Network. Melinda coordinates trainers, training events, facilitates workshops, and provides support for cloud-based applications. Specializing in Google, Melinda has facilitated over 200 virtual and face-to-face workshops and is a Google for Education Certified Educator, Trainer, Administrator and is Google Cloud Certified.

Francisco Pinedo Jr

Francisco X. Pinedo Jr, has a MA in Education from Brandman University with a Multiple-Subject, CTE and Adult Ed credential. He has taught at Soledad Adult School for 18 years and is currently the Lead Instructor at SAS. Francisco has taught multiple levels of ESL, Adult High School Diploma and leads technology integration project at SAS and in the Salinas Valley Adult Education Consortium. He is also very active in other state leadership associations in California and Nationally.

Diana Vera-Alba

Diana Vera-Alba has a MA in Cross-Cultural Teaching from National University, a Multiple-Subject BCLAD Credential, Administrative Services Credential, and a TESOL Certificate from UCSD. She has taught ESL at San Diego College of Continuing Education for six years as a Hybrid, Distance, and Online instructor. She is currently the OER and CAEP Coordinator at SDCCE where she is also serving as Academic Senate Vice-President, Teachers Using Technology Co-Chair, and OER Liaison for the ASCCC. Diana is a Subject Matter Expert for OTAN having facilitated trainings on topics such Canvas, Open Educational Resources, and Teaching with Technology based webinars.

Kristi Reyes

Kristi Reyes has a MA in TESL from Northern Arizona University and is a certified online teacher (TESOL International and California Community Colleges @ONE). She has taught ESL in MiraCosta College‘s noncredit program for 24 years and has been a full time faculty since 2004. She is a consultant and facilitator for two of California‘s Adult Ed leadership projects, OTAN and CALPRO. Kristi has previously served in CATESOL as a state conference program co-chair, TELL-IG coordinator, and Adult Level Chair. She is currently assisting the TELL-IG and OT-IG coordinators and is a program co-chair for the CATESOL 2022 State Conference.
