CATESOL Level Award for Full-Time & Part-Time ESL Teachers

K-12 Professional Development Award
Sponsored by National Geographic LearningThis $500 award honors ESL instructors, TEFL instructors, and former undergraduate or graduate students who write an outstanding piece on classroom-based research.

CATESOL Level Awards for ESL Students

Community College Level Student Essay Contest
Sponsored by Townsend Press
This award honors an ESL student in a credit or non-credit program in community college. The essay winner will receive $200 worth of books from Townsend Press.
Deadline: August 1, 2021

CATESOL Interest Group Award

Ron Lee Technology Award
A $1000 award will go to the ESL instructor who has integrated technology in innovative ways to support ESL teaching.

CATESOL Education Foundation Sponsored Memorial Awards

Rick Sullivan Registration Grant 
This CATESOL Foundation grant covers annual conference registration costs for CATESOL members currently in graduate school.
Deadline: August 1, 2021

Gail Weinstein Memorial Award
This $300 award honors a CATESOL member who works with immigrant learners in a community-based adult ESL classroom context and who integrates story sharing in classroom teaching.

Gordon Johnson Membership Grant 
Two part-time teachers currently teaching ESL in California will receive a one-year membership to CATESOL to encourage their ongoing interest in professional development.
Deadline: August 1, 2021

Diversity Equity Inclusion Grant
This special grant award focuses on mentoring and training five ESL/ELL educators from CATESOL’s levels (K-12, Higher Education, Community College, Adult Education and Intensive English Programs) about best practices regarding racial and social justice, curriculum redesign, and implicit bias training.
Application to be open in December 2021.
