Purpose:
Having served as an ESL editor and
sales individual over the course of
his forty year career, Mr. Gordon
Johnson valued the creativity
demonstrated by many ESL
instructors. It is for this reason
that this award, created in his
honor, will recognize ESL
instructors who have developed or
designed particularly innovative ESL
materials or lesson plans.

$100 One recipient will be selected
each year. The prize will be awarded
at the annual CATESOL conference,
this year in San Diego, California.

Eligibility: |
| ESL
teachers who meet the following
criteria may apply for this grant: |

3 years
minimum teaching ESL in the US or
abroad |

Instructed at the
adult level, community college,
university IEP levels. |

Resident of
California or Nevada |

Sample materials must not have been
previously published, nor have they
been submitted for publication.
